This segment of the business consists of multiple anatomically designed products to address pediatric long bone trauma while providing the surgeon with a wide array of options.
The PediLoc® Femur Locked Plate System is the first and only anatomic plate system dedicated exclusively to the treatment of pediatric femur fractures and osteotomies. Prior to the launch of PediLoc Femur, orthopedic surgeons have been forced to use off-label adult straight plates, compromising anatomic fit, function, fixation, and can risk injury to a child's growth plates.
PediLoc Femur eliminates the need for interoperative bending and contouring while also providing superior fixation with either locking or non-locking screws. Furthermore, by offering both distally contoured and anterior to posterior bowed plates as well as sizes ranging from 3.5 mm 10-18 hole and 4.5mm 12-20 hole, surgeons can appropriately address multiple indications in patients with varying skeletal maturity levels, utilizing a plate that actually "FITS" the femur. Combined with unique instrumentation that makes submuscular MIS techniques not only possible, but very simple, PediLoc Femur is in a class of its own.
PediLoc Femur sets a new standard for plate and screw fixation by providing surgeons with the world's only anatomically appropriate, on-label FDA indicated product for treatment of pediatric femur fractures and osteotomies. Click here to view the Features and Benefits.

Also in 2008, OrthoPediatrics launched the next generation flexible nail, PediFlex™. Elastic intra-medullary nailing of long bone fracture is an excellent technique in the surgical treatment of long bone fracture in children. It is safe, less invasive and associated with fewer complications. Unlike other flexible nails on the market, PediFlex™ is the next generation flexible nail with a new tip design that incorporates some of the same properties found in high performance hyperbolic snow skis. The unique tip design aids in insertion of the nail and fracture reduction. PediFlex™ is offered in both titanium (1.5mm - 4.5mm) and stainless steel (1.5mm - 4.0mm) in increments of 0.5mm to accommodate all surgeon preferences—because "with kids you've got to be flexible™".
